"Elimisha Jamii" Scholarship Fund

In honor of the Late Mr. Fred Lesakale

A fund has been established by Asante Africa Foundation in honor of the Late Mr. Fred Lesakale, Program Manager for Asante Africa Kenya period (2015 – 2017). The proceeds from this fund will be used to provide a transition and secondary school scholarship (class 8- Form 4) to female students from the Late Fred’s home region of Wamba in particular, and Samburu County in Northern Kenya.

Female students will be targeted due to the highly marginalized situations of girls in drought prone, nomadic regions. Subsequent four-year scholarships will be offered to any qualifying female student from this same region depending on the availability of funds.

Selection Criteria:

  • Student must be entering class 8 at the initiation of the scholarship.
  • Academic scores in end of primary examinations must be greater than 300 points or three-fifth of the expected total scores, for consideration.
  • Selection will be based on academic performance and financial need.
  • All other Asante Africa selection criteria apply.

Selection process:

  • Students must complete scholarship application form for consideration.
  • Asante Africa Foundation will conduct interviews with prospective recipients and their parents/guardians.
  • Asante Africa Foundation staff, Board and a selection panel will make the final selection.
  • Scholarship Program Manager at Asante Africa Foundation Kenya will notify successful candidates and their families.
