| Melvin Cherono currently is a finance assistant at Hope Worldwide Kenya (HWWK) a dedicated finance professional with extensive expertise in budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management. She has successfully supported donor funded projects from donors such as the Global Fund Partnership and The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) aimed towards improving healthcare and agricultural sectors.
She is an advocate for the differently abled in society, dedicated to promoting inclusion, accessibility and equal opportunities for all. Melvin holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce with a major in finance from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). |
| Abdikadir Ismail is an esteemed educationist with a significant impact locally and internationally. As a co-founder of *Learning Unpacked APPLIED* and a Global Teacher Prize nominee (2018), he has been recognized for his dedication to enhancing education. Ismail serves as a Varkey Teacher Ambassador and is a respected School Principal. His contributions extend across boundaries as he is a certified School Leadership Facilitator for Sub-Saharan Africa under the British Council (Kenya).
Beyond his administration duties, Ismail is an exceptional mentor and trainer, influencing a new generation of educators. His work, especially in under-resourced schools, showcases his commitment to using technology to bridge educational gaps. An advocate for digital literacy, Abdikadir regularly collaborates with international organizations, using platforms like Skype to connect students globally. This approach not only broadens students’ perspectives but also brings global education standards to local classrooms. |
Michael is a dedicated and passionate education professional with over a decade of experience in teaching, leadership, and student mentorship. Currently, Michael is serving as the Principal at Wamba Mixed Day Secondary School. He specializes in English instruction, guidance and counseling, and the integration of ICT in education. Michael is committed to nurturing holistic learners, empowering teachers, and championing digital transformation in rural schools.

| Chadwick Bironga is a Research Economist at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) with a strong focus on empowering rural underserved communities through initiatives that enhance access to economic opportunities, food and nutrition security, and social inclusion. A Board Director for the Asante Africa Foundation since 2021, he champions education and resources for vulnerable youth in East Africa. Bironga’s research delves into gender mainstreaming, youth empowerment, and the inclusion of people with disabilities and individuals living with HIV/AIDS in an inclusive economy. With over five first-author scientific papers published in peer-reviewed indexed journals, several co-authored publications, and two book chapters, he is a seasoned scholar.
He leads numerous community resilience-building projects in Kenya’s Coastal Region Counties and the Northern Frontier counties, focusing on sustainable livelihoods. Bironga also represents KMFRI in the Kenya National Syndemic Disease Control Council, serves on the KMFRI Ethical Research Review Committee, and has contributed to transformative programs like USAID Nawiri that is being implemented in Turkana, Marsabit, Samburu, Isiolo and West Pokot Counties. Bironga has a Master’s in Economics and a Bachelor’s in Economics and Statistics, with which he blends academic expertise and practical leadership to foster equity and sustainable development. |
| Everlyne Moraa Oyagi is a change-maker and an entrepreneur. Her advocacy ranges in matters Gender equality (SDG 5) and Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8). She is the C.E.O & Founder of Swazuri Events Ltd and KUZA Youth CBO in Mombasa. Everlyne is passionate about changing mindsets and inspiring lives of young Africans especially young female entrepreneurs through her work. She has created and organized over 40 events which have had an impact and reach of over 10,000. These events have helped the youths especially young women achieve personal growth, resilience and created positive change in society.
With a decade of experience in entrepreneurship, she has had young women start the digital footprint for their businesses to leverage on technology to increase sales, opened business bank accounts, streamlined their business systems and operations, widened their market share, built their personal brands, started businesses, and networked with peers in different fields. Everlyne uses her organizations to shape mindsets and enhance entrepreneurial skills of the youth so that we have more successful African youths especially females. She also partners with other personalities to offer mentorship to young women in business or career guidance for those in high school. She is a YALI Alumni 2020 (Young African Leader Initiative), TEF alumni 2020 (Tony Elumelu Foundation), ABSA SHE Star 2022 Everlyne unwinds by playing golf or tennis, hiking, reading or relaxing at home. |
Irene Thuo is a multifaceted professional with over 15 years of experience spanning Banking, Entrepreneurship, and Mental Health. She began her career with a Swiss bank in Kenya, Habib Bank AG Zurich, where she worked for nearly five years, gaining expertise in financial management, corporate governance, and strategic planning. For the past decade, she has been a dedicated entrepreneur and founder of Renekam Enterprise, focusing on engaging and promoting female producers and farmers to drive inclusive economic empowerment.
She is also a qualified Counselling Psychologist, who is passionate about working with both adults and children to help them discover meaning and the purpose in their lives. Her experience includes supporting children from Githogoro, an economically strained and underserved area in Nairobi, and working in substance use prevention and counselling.
She is currently serving as a Board member at Loreto High School, Limuru.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resources Management, Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Commerce: Finance & Investment. Irene enjoys reading, cooking, hiking and a good laugh with friends and family.

Catherine is the head of Internal Audit Unit at Dar es Salaam Tumaini University (DarTU) – Tanzania, where she leads risk assessment, risk mitigation strategies, internal audit planning, and compliance monitoring while supporting the university’s mission in teaching, learning, and research for sustainable development. With over 14 years of experience in risk-based audit, financial management and compliance Catherine has worked across both government entities and the non-profit sector. She is known for enhancing Organizational performance by designing compliance frameworks and systems, while fostering a culture of integrity, operational efficiency and strategic governance in every organization she serves.
Catherine is an associate certified public accountant in public practise (ACPA –PP) and holds an MBA and BBA. She is an active member of the National Board of Accountants and Auditors, Tanzania (NBAA) & the Institute of Internal Auditors, Tanzania Chapter.
Beyond work, Catherine enjoys reading inspirational books, parenting, mentoring, speaking engagements, community services and she is passionate of financial literacy helping others make informed financial decisions.
Rachel is a lawyer with a strong background and expertise in data protection law, investment law, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), digital and tech law, and regional data governance frameworks in Africa. She has worked in project development and implementation in data governance, striving for improved data practices and governance across Africa. Outside of work, she is a well-versed legal author, public speaker and developing expert in mediation and arbitration, holding certification in Fundamentals of Effective Negotiation from the Ministry of Justice in the United Kingdom.
She also serves in different membership capacities – under the Project Management Institute (Tanzania and Global Chapter), Tanzania Women Lawyers Association and the Tanzania Privacy Professionals Association. Annually, she also volunteers as a Judge and Coach under the International Law Student Association (ILSA) for law students who compete in the Phillip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition.
Rita Kahurananga is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in leadership, business development, marketing, strategic planning, and social impact investment across both the private and non-profit sectors. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Project Management and serves on four Boards: Light of Hope Tanzania, Asante Africa Foundation, Youth Dream Initiative, and Women Fund Tanzania Trust.
Rita began her career in the private sector from 1992 to 2002, working with companies like South African Airways, Kaymac Rotomoulder, and Protea Hotels. She transitioned into leadership roles in both corporate and non-profit organizations, notably serving as National Director for SoS Children’s Villages from 2010 to 2013, where she was honored with the Chief Executive Round Table (CEOrt) public-service partner of the year award.
A leadership fellow at the Africa Leadership Initiative East Africa (ALI-EAF), she is currently the CEO of Mulika Afrika Initiative (MAI) and the Sole Proprietor of Kageni Consulting. Her consulting work has honed her expertise in strategic planning, project management, leadership, organizational development, and policy analysis, benefiting a range of clients including AMSCO, SOS Children’s Villages Denmark and Tanzania, the British Council, GIZ Tanzania and Zambia, UNICEF, UN IOM, UN Women, and Habitat for Humanity.
Being a woman of impact and passion, Asha runs a community based charity, visiting and interacting with orphans and children with disabilities in Morogoro. For income, Asha runs a women’s hair salon.
Annagrace is a seasoned gender expert, qualitative researcher, Facilitator and advocate with over 15 years of experience in Girls and Women’s rights, community engagement, participatory research, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). She is the Founder and Managing Director of Her Dignity Consult, a firm dedicated to gender-sensitive development, social impact and justice, and stakeholder engagement.
With a strong legal background—including an LL.M. in Sexual and Reproductive Rights and a Postgraduate Diploma in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)—Annagrace specializes in grievance management, resettlement support, and gender-responsive policies. Her expertise in community-led research, engagement and participatory methodologies has helped shape national and international development initiatives.
Annagrace has collaborated with Asante Africa Foundation, Oxfam, Plan International, TGNP, Twaweza, and the Aga Khan Development Network, among others, in advancing gender equality, social development, and community-driven change. She is passionate about bridging the gap between businesses, governments, and communities to foster inclusive and sustainable growth.
Daniel is a Management guru and Trainer with 20 years of experience. He has extensive knowledge and expertise in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Strategic Management, Business Plans Development, Operations management Program/Project Management & Evaluation, Policy formation and Analysis, Organizational Design and Restructuring, Leading and Managing Change.
Daniel has worked for Various Organizations including World Vision Tanzania where he worked as Program Manager (2yrs) Tropical Pesticides Research Institute (TPRI) worked as Head of Human Resources & Administration (7yrs), ActionAid Tanzania worked as Head of Human Resources, Organizational Development & Support services (6yrs). He also served as Board Member for Tanzania Chamber of Commerce for Arusha Region. He is currently serving as Chief Consultant and C.E.O for DLM Global Business and Management Consulting. He holds MBA, B.com and Diploma in Business Administration and Management.
Risha is Director at JustSystems, an exploratory initiative to bolster support for public systems change. She is also founder and managing director of Kiungo, a civil society support consultancy. Previously, Risha led advocacy and engagement work at Twaweza East Africa for over 10 years where she was responsible for oversight of all content produced by Twaweza and designing, refining and implementing advocacy strategies across the region.
Prior to that she helped to build the Communications Department for the Mo Ibrahim Foundation to generate debate on governance and leadership across the continent. She has close to 20 years of experience working on communications for governance in the African context. Risha serves on the board of Nafasi Art Space (Chair) and Tanzania Bora Initiative (Chair).

Christopher is a public health expert, currently fulfilling the role of Director of Programmes at Afya na Haki (www.afyanahaki.org) an African research and training institute that uses Africentric approaches to generate knowledge and enhance advocacy capacities in the areas of Health, Human Rights and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
Over the span of more than fifteen years, Christopher has cultivated a wealth of experience in programme development, specializing in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), HIV/AIDS and Harm Reduction. His extensive experience encompasses collaborations with a diverse array of stakeholders, including civil society organizations (CSOs), academic institutions, grassroots activists, and various community members. Christopher’s impressive expertise allows him to foster meaningful engagement with individuals and groups alike, facilitating organizational growth and resource mobilization at both national and international levels.
Georginah is a legal professional whose experience spans across various domains of regulatory compliance, innovation law, risk management, partnerships, international humanitarian law, and corporate governance. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda trained in Uganda and Switzerland. She has worked with leading INGOs in Europe operating globally with a presence in East Africa as well as two private law firms in Uganda. In 2018, she founded the Mentorship Platform. Through this initiative she organized several educational conferences , legal awareness sessions in Wakiso District, charity outreaches in prisons for female inmates and mentorship talks for university students and teenagers in rural areas of Uganda. Stemming from this she joined the Global Shaper Community, an initiative for the World Economic Forum and currently serves as the Vice Curator of the Fribourg Hub in Switzerland. Lastly , she serves on three boards of 2 women led organizations operating in Uganda and Tanzania as well as the Asante Africa Foundation- Uganda board. She strives to use the law to make a difference in society.

He is an NGO professional with over 20 years of experience in various areas of the industry including, Education, Social Development, Microfinance, and Volunteer management. He has skills in Research, Project Management, Training, Teamwork and Team building.
Lamech is a self-motivated worker with a passion for Capacity Building and International Community Development. Hi committed to contributing his strengths in order to make the world a more equitable and just place.
Jacqueline Namusalisi has a Master’s of Science Degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelors Degree and Diploma in Food Processing Technology from Kyambogo University, and is an Alumni of University of Sydney, MS-Training Center for Development Co-operation Arusha, Tanzania and Strathmore University, Kenya.
She has wide experience in food manufacturing, agriculture research, and NGO work and has volunteered as the In-Country representative for the Albert Baker Fund for 6 years. She is currently a consultant at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre in Nairobi and a Director at Grassroot Women Development Organisation in Uganda, as well as, a Pan-African Council member- Australian Award Women in Leadership.
She has vast experience in working with young people is passionate about nurturing them through their career development and empowering women to become financially independent. Her provides her with a solid foundation as a disciplinarian and Mentor.
She enjoys writing and learning foreign languages during her free time.
Ritah is the Country Director for Action Against Hunger – USA in Uganda since March 2023. Ritah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Accounting major, ACCA, Masters in business administration from Heriot Watt University and is currently pursuing another Master of Leadership in Development from Manchester University, UK and the University of Melbourne, Australia. She is a seasoned development worker and practitioner with experience spanning over a decade across several sectors including Finance/Accounting and operations, Nutrition and Health, Education, Food security and Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and climate programming. Before joining Action Against Hunger (ACF), Ritah worked with World Vision and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Her areas of focus include Leadership development, strategic management, gender empowerment, Advocacy, policy, and programs implementation. As a country Director, Ritah has been engaged not only in provision of strategic guidance to the country office but also in strategic advocacy for nutrition, health, education, Water, sanitation, and Hygiene and food security related policy frameworks at local, national, and international platforms.
Olivia Talemwa Nalugwa is Program Manager of Uganda Tuberculosis Implementation Research Consortium at Makerere University College of Health Sciences. She has Master’s degrees in Global Health and Business Administration, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management.
Michael B. Mutagana holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (Finance) of Makerere University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance of Kyambogo University. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) of the United Kingdom. He has over 30 years’ experience in Financial Management and Administration.
He has worked in various organizations including in business, academia and public sectors. Michael’s career has been built on a firm foundation of continuous search for knowledge and a value of ethical levels. Michael is currently Manager at Finance & Administration Professional Engineering Consultants Group
Ronald is a highly motivated and proactive Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all subordinate Courts of Judicature of the Republic of Uganda, and a member of the Uganda Law Society. He is also a member of the East Africa Law Society, an Associate Partner at Kiiza Kwanza Advocates & Solicitors, and is an External Advocate for Hoima District Local Government. He is currently serving as a Director and a Board. Member of Rise & Company Limited. Ronald is a graduate of Makerere University where he earned a Bachelors of Law Degree. He also received a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre. He is a Senior Advocates partner at M/S Barungi Baingana & Co.

Monica has over 25 years of experience and held senior marketing positions with such well-known companies as Aramark, Burger King, Einstein Noah and Knowledge Learning. She is now an independent consultant and executive coach inspiring companies and individuals to unleash their potential through brand management and strategic planning.
She holds degrees from Michigan Technological University and Western Michigan University. Her friend and former safari guide, Tanzanian board member Dennis Lyamuya, introduced Monica to Asante Africa Foundation.
Erna Grasz co-founded Asante Africa Foundation with two visionary African women from Kenya and Tanzania. While spending 25 years in the corporate world as a senior executive, she earned the reputation as a strategic leader, “organizer of chaos” and with demonstrated success in diverse industries, including medical device, defense research, and semiconductor capital equipment.
In 2011 she left the corporate world to manage the organization full time.
Betty Stallings has spent her career engaged with nonprofit organizations. She was the founder and 14-year CEO of a Volunteer Center and went on to become an author of 6 books, and an international trainer, keynote speaker and consultant specializing in volunteer management, fundraising, and board development. For 12 years she was the Training Editor of the e-Volunteerism.com Journal. She has received numerous awards for her dedication and contributions to the field of volunteer engagement.
Allyson Haug is Director of Philanthropy at The Discovery Group, bringing a breadth of experience and dynamic leadership in strategic planning. In addition to her experience in fundraising, Allyson is also a certified executive coach. Her coaching approach is non-directive and one that aims to enhance skills and effectiveness in fundraising professionals. She has led successful fundraising programs for multiple non-profit and public education organizations throughout Canada and the United States. As an authority in major gifts, Allyson specializes in corporate donors and private foundations. Her critical thinking is shaped by a deep understanding of organizational culture and genuine people engagement. She believes the social profit sector is the way to build a better community. These insights have been actively proven, with many years devoted to advancing children’s education in East Africa. With a fascination for languages, Allyson can be found contemplating speech and syntax whilst hiking on the world’s most beautiful mountains.
Whitney is an accomplished Executive Director for the AdvoCare Foundation with a proven track record of success and thought leadership. She was instrumental in creating a self-sustaining model for the AdvoCare Foundation from scratch. The foundation is focused building healthy lifestyles for children and families across the United States – particularly in underserved areas. Now entering its 10th year, the foundation now has long-standing partnerships and impact in 10 states. She also has presented at SXSW Future of Food, been a part of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health, and been featured in numerous articles and podcasts. She was also recently appointed the City of Dallas’ Environmental Commission Food Access position to advise the city’s food access initiatives.
Before her work with the foundation, Whitney was part of the team at Lockheed Martin who worked to restructure community relations and address an impending 90,000-employee shortage by prioritizing STEM education in the company’s CSR portfolio. Additionally, she has held leadership roles with organizations such as the Dallas Regional Chamber, Greenhill School, March of Dimes, and the U.S. Department of Education, where she was on the committee responsible for organizing the first Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair in an effort to provide school supplies and services needed for students to start school.
Whitney has extensive experience in board governance and currently serves on the boards of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum, Turtle Creek Chorale, Texas Ballet Theater, and the John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health. She also serves as an advisor or committee member for several other organizations, including the Compass School, ALMA Backyard Farms, St. Mark’s School of Texas, Taylor’s Gift Foundation, Econautics, North Texas Food Bank, and Asante Africa Foundation.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Whitney is also a talented children’s book author with two award-winning titles under her belt. She plans to continue writing more books to share with her two sons, Bobby and Tim.
Whitney graduated with her doctorate in interdisciplinary studies of human rights and behavioral science at SMU in 2024, with a goal of becoming a specialist in social change and impact. Her dissertation topic was a multisite case study of the impact of urban agriculture on addressing food equity. She is also a sustainer member of the Junior League of Dallas and Leadership Dallas Alumni Association, and her family is actively involved with Crossroads Community Services.
Pushpa Krishnan is a businesswoman and a mother of two with a heart for service. With graduate degrees in Clinical Nutrition, and Management from Bombay University, and Biological Sciences from University of Alabama, her career has spanned technical and leadership roles in healthcare, scientific research, education and real estate investment. Pushpa’s passion for social work stems from her upbringing amongst the vulnerable and underserved where she organized vocational activities for juveniles and children of Mumbai’s brothels and slums. Recognized by Bombay University for implementing a community nutrition and clean water initiative in rural India’s tribal communities, she continued her service in the U.S. through local community nutrition workshops and meal programs at homeless shelters. She served as Board President of Cantabella, a youth music education non-profit, and as Board Director for the Center for Community Dispute Settlement, in the East Bay. Pushpa unwinds and finds serenity through Indian folk-art painting, her love of houseplants, culinary arts, and traveling. She is motivated by Asante Africa education focused and youth centered mission.
He graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts where he was a team captain and an All-American lacrosse player. Colin is drawn to support Asante Africa Foundation’s mission because of his belief that education has the power to transform, empower and strengthen our global community.
Mark has a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering, an MBA, and is a recently retired executive from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he has worked for nearly 38 years. He is currently working for a Boston based Start- up company and spending more time enjoying technical contributions to global needs.
Mark has supported both the development and implementation of projects in Kenya and Tanzania, as well as helping to develop the basic business tools needed to operate the organization in the United States.
Michael Carter serves as the Program Director for DoD Technology Programs and serves as a member of the senior leadership staff in the National Ignition Facility (NIF) and Photon Science Principal Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Mike holds technical degrees, including a B.S. in Physics from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in Applied Science from University of California, Davis. Mike is also a professional photographer and supports Asante Africa Foundation through his photography.
Shirley has 25+ years of experience working with ASSE International Student Exchange- hosting foreign exchange students, supervising, mentoring, learning about new cultures, and helping others learn about & adjust to life in the United States.
For the past 17 years, Shirley also has headed the Bay Area interviews for the Congress Bundestag Scholarship between the United States and Germany. Shirley hold a degree from Wartburg College in Political Science. She also holds a certificate in Volunteer Management.
Heather is a leadership-focused P&L executive with experience across intelligence, defense, and federal markets in the US and UK. She has portfolio management experience of $175+M annual portfolio with 300+ people, mostly in systems development and integration. Her most recent experience is in products, services, and enterprise IT.
Heather has experience as a Director at Northrop Grumman Corporation, a global security company providing innovative solutions to government and commercial customers worldwide. She holds a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, a master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. Heather is passionate about Asante Africa Foundation’s work.
Kanan co-leads the Climate Talent Initiative at IREX, which includes a series of programs working towards bringing new talent and growing existing talent within the Climate sector. In her past roles at IREX, she was the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) liaison for Education Practice and supported & led virtual exchange programs building cross-cultural connections and Entrepreneurial & STEM skills amongst youth. She was formerly the Director of MEL at Asante Africa Foundation and led Data Analytics at Vivensity Inc.
Kanan has a background in Materials Science (PhD, 2005) and has worked for over a decade in R&D of organic electronics displays and Li-ion batteries for application in consumer electronics. Her work experience includes post doctoral research positions at UC Berkeley & Northwestern University, as well as program and reliability positions at Sharp Laboratories of America and Apple Inc.
Nadya Karim-Shaw joins the Asante Africa Foundation Board with over 25 years of experience spanning corporate IT (Honeywell, Hewlett Packard, Deloitte & Touche) and international development across the US, Asia, and Africa. As a technical advisor and country representative, she has worked extensively in blended learning, teacher professional development, early grade literacy/numeracy, accelerated education for out-of-school learners, and workforce development for youth. She has designed and led multi-year, mid and large-scale initiatives that have reached over 40 million children in Pakistan and India, driving measurable learning gains and earning recognition from the ILO and UKAID. Over the last decade, Nadya has also mentored various start-ups, co-created a children’s book and audio series, and brokered over $18 million public-private collaborations to tackle issues of access, sustainability, and scale in education. A city-mouse at heart, Nadya grew up by the ocean in Karachi but now finds herself nestled in the mountains of Colorado, from where she plots new adventures with her family and two (exceptionally fluffy) cats.

Deborah Namugenyi is a dedicated educator and community empowerment advocate, focusing on education, gender equality, and sustainable livelihoods to drive positive change. As a program coordinator and manager at Asante Africa Foundation, she spearheaded transformative initiatives and cultivated impactful partnerships.

Currently, she continues her involvement as a board member at Busega Martyrs’ Kindergarten.

Alex brings over 15 years of experience in business development, proposal management, and strategic partnerships, having helped secure millions in funding across global initiatives. Most recently, she served as Deputy Director of New Business Development at IREX, where she led high-impact development strategies and supported significant organizational growth across multiple sectors and geographies. Alex is based in Dar es Salaam, offering a valuable regional perspective to our work.
Florence Thomas John is a passionate and dynamic leader serving as the Country Manager for Asante Africa Foundation Tanzania. With a Bachelor of Arts in Education and extensive experience in youth development, she has been a driving force behind empowering young people to embrace digital transformation and take action against climate change. Her work with organizations like GLAMI and Asante Africa Foundation has had a profound impact on youth, particularly in helping them develop leadership skills and awareness of global challenges.
Florence is also an award-winning advocate for women and girls’ rights, having received recognition and certifications for her commitment to supporting their career growth and empowerment. As a dedicated career mentor, she has guided many young women to realize their potential and achieve their professional goals. Her passion for social impact, combined with her expertise in program management and advocacy, makes her a powerful voice for change and a true champion for youth and gender equality.
Previously, Frank served as a senior monitoring and evaluation officer at the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD) in Uganda overseeing monitoring and evaluation function for CEHURD’s national, regional and global programs in collaboration with other partners. With over nine years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation; program and project design and implementation, Frank holds a masters degree in public Health (Global Health) from the University of Manchester, UK; a post graduate certificate in monitoring and evaluation from the University of Washington; a post graduate diploma in monitoring and evaluation from Uganda Management Institute and a bachelors degree in computer engineering from Makerere University in Uganda. Frank also holds a post graduate certificate in project planning and management. He was a Global Health Corps fellow in Uganda between 2018 and 2019 and served as the Global Health Corps alumni vice president in 2020. He has previously worked in various capacities in the field of monitoring and evaluation and program management for a number of national and international organizations such as Baylor Uganda, Global Health Corps, Windle Trust International and Action Africa Help in areas of health, education and livelihoods. Frank is passionate about working with and for young people to address health determinants affecting them including; access to education, livelihood and economic empowerment.
Martine Kihumbe – Digital Transformation Program Manager – East Africa at Asante Africa Foundation. He holds a Master of Arts in Education and brings expertise in program development and implementation, digital education, curriculum development, and teacher professional development.
In his role, he leads the design and implementation of digital transformation initiatives, aligning technology and education strategies with organizational goals. He collaborates with country teams and senior leadership to strengthen digital learning systems, enhance instructional practices, and improve learner outcomes through data-driven approaches.
Martine also contributes to strategic partnerships and supports capacity building efforts to advance innovation and impact in education across the East Africa region.
Harriet Masika Musanzi is an experienced Human Resource professional with over 7 years of expertise in Human Capital management across East Africa. She is a registered member of the Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda (HRMAU) and has a strong background in employee relations, recruitment, training and development, performance management, HR policy design, and strategic change initiatives. Harriet is well-versed in labor laws across East Africa and is skilled in HRIS systems, HR operations, and administrative support.
Throughout her career, Harriet has demonstrated exceptional ability in building and nurturing organizational culture, enhancing employee engagement, and aligning HR strategies with overall business goals. She has successfully implemented HR processes that have improved efficiency, employee retention, and performance across the organizations she has worked with. Harriet has held key roles, including Human Resource Manager for BTS Clearing and Forwarding Ltd (Uganda) and East Global Logistics (Kenya), where she led HR functions across East Africa, developed organizational structures, and ensured compliance with labor laws. She has also managed significant HR operations at SEATINI Uganda, contributing to the NGO’s growth through talent acquisition, staff welfare, performance management, and staff development initiatives.
Harriet is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at Uganda Management Institute (UMI). She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from Uganda Management Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Community Development from Kyambogo University, a Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation from Kyambogo University. She also has a Certificate of Administrative Law from the Law Development Centre.

Benard brings over four years of professional experience in Finance & Accounting, Audit, and Project Management. He transitioned to Asante Africa Foundation Tanzania from KCB Bank Tanzania and holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) in Dar es Salaam. Ambitious and dedicated, he aims to transform lives through community health initiatives and address social challenges by fostering relationships with donors and stakeholders to promote self-reliance and financial stability. He is currently pursuing CPA certification.
Benard began his career at FINCA Microfinance Bank in Dar es Salaam, where he led a team in recovering outstanding loan assignments for a year. He then moved to KCB Bank Tanzania, where he specialized in leading youth project coordination, grants management, financial reporting, and project management and planning for three years.

His background across the East Africa region and Global experience adds depth to his leadership perspective. He co-founded the Asante Africa Foundation Uganda chapter and previously served as the Country Director overseeing impactful programs and projects. Geoffrey celebrates having successfully worked in designing and implementing adolescents and youth climate, educational and skills development projects in Uganda rural schools and communities in partnership with the government of Uganda. He led the geographical growth of the organization to deepen the impact and quality of Programs that advance skills building, climate action, livelihood, gender equality, girl empowerment through skills building and education. During the Covid 19 pandemic he led a team that innovated community Learning groups which were sustained for nearly two (2) years when schools were closed in Uganda and kept adolescents and youth on their path for education and safety in their communities where they lived. These groups currently serve as alternative education and skills development pathways for out of school youth. He has also previously served as the Deputy CEO Strategic Program Development and Impact at Asante Africa Foundation.
His academic achievements include an MBA from Uganda Christian University, a Bachelor of Information Systems from Makerere University, an international diploma in Leadership and Management from Luxury Academy London, and an international certification in Monitoring and Evaluation from the International Training Centre of the International Labor Organization in Turin, Italy. Committed to professional growth, he is currently pursuing an Executive MBA in Strategic Leadership at the Quantic School of Business and Technology in Washington.
Outside of his professional endeavors, he is a Gratitude Network Fellow and a Rotarian. He is a coffee farmer, dedicated to sustainable agriculture practices and values his role as a family man, finding balance between his personal and professional life.

Jennifer Haist is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator based in British Columbia, Canada. She is the owner of a freelance design and illustration company, OwlBox Designs, which specializes in providing design and branding solutions for non-profit organizations and small businesses.
Since joining the Asante Africa Foundation’s marketing team in 2014, Jennifer has been developing eye-catching designs to promote the Foundation’s programs and accomplishments. She holds a Diploma in Digital Arts and New Media and has more than 10 years of experience with design and illustration.
Implementing Staff
At Asante Africa Foundation, Dorice supports Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) processes to strengthen program impact and promote data driven decision making. She hold a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental Studies and brings over six years of experience in data collection, analysis, reporting, and information management to enhance organizational learning and performance.
Throughout her career, she has worked in both humanitarian and community development contexts with several organizations, including the Tanzania Red Cross Society (TRCS), the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and currently Asante Africa Foundation. These experiences have strengthened her skills in program monitoring, data management, stakeholder engagement, and evidence based reporting.
Dorice is passionate about using data and research to drive positive community change and improve the effectiveness of development programs. Beyond her professional work, she enjoys watching movies, exploring new places, and learning about different cultures and environments.
Samuel is a dedicated social worker and teacher with roots in a humble rural background. His passion for empowering marginalized youth and families has led him to develop and implement innovative programs that integrate leadership, vocational training, mentorship, entrepreneurship education, and life skills. These initiatives have fostered impactful partnerships between schools, local businesses, and community organizations.
Known for his excellent interpersonal skills, Samuel excels as a communicator, counselor, mentor, and role model for many young people. He is fluent in Luganda and English, with a growing proficiency in Swahili, Runyoro-Rutooro, and Runyakitala.
Samuel’s academic achievements include a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Science from Makerere University, complemented by a certificate in Communication with Confidence and Life Coaching/Mentoring from the College of Health Science at Makerere University. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work at Bugema University.
In addition to his educational pursuits, Samuel serves his community in multiple capacities. He works with the Buganda Kingdom as the Youth Leader in Ssingo County, holds the position of Charter President for the Rotaract Club of Kassanda, and serves as the Principal of Ssingo Vocational Training Center in Kassanda. Through these roles, Samuel continues to drive positive change and empower the next generation of community leaders.
Nyabongo Wilson is a seasoned Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) professional with three years of experience in project monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning. His academic credentials include a Master’s degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from Nkumba University, underpinning his expertise in the field. Wilson’s educational background is further enriched by a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Makerere University, complemented by certificates in Monitoring and Evaluation, Capital Markets, and Guidance and Counseling from various institutions.

Jackson holds a BSc in Environmental Health from Mount Kenya University. He has over four years’ experience working with community and youth livelihoods programs across health, education and skills empowerment programs. Currently serving as Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Associate at Asante Africa Foundation responsible for monitoring of project activities at projects sites to ensure the projects achieve the set objectives and goals.
Previously, He worked as Turkana regional coordinator at Asante Africa Foundation. While in this position, he was able to oversee smooth implementation of the programs in the region through seamless coordination efforts that brought all partners on board. These included but not limited to the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, National Government Agencies and communities within the project implementation areas.
Annalee joined Asante Africa Foundation as the Development Associate for the Kenya team in 2022. After two straight summers volunteering in the Archdiocese of Lodwar in Turkana County, she knew she had a passion for providing educational opportunities for all children in Kenya. She holds a Bachelor and a Master of Arts from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and also brings nearly ten years of educational experience in a variety of settings to the organization. Working for Asante Africa is really a dream realized and Annalee is truly passionate about the work she does.
Dickson is a passionate and talented young man who has been involved in volunteering to help in improving the livelihood of less privileged groups within his community and beyond. His enormous passion to solve challenges within his community and the world motivated him to offer his time and energy by volunteering with different civil societies, such as the Youth Leadership Club-YLC, Illovo and Tanzania STEM Network.
Having been an alumnus of Asante Africa Foundation, Dickson’s involvement at the organization ignited his drive for leadership, community influence, and education. His experience in this organization became the turning point in shaping his career and aspirations. He attained a Bachelor’s degree in Market and Public Relations at the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy, TIA, and gave him a strong base concerning communication, outreach, and strategy.
He presently works as a Digital Transformation Coordinator with much enthusiasm in using technology for impact. Through this love for technology, Dickson has founded Techlift Group to teach the youth in Tanzania about technology. This is where he equips the young with what they require to successfully thrive in a digital world. From here, innovations and development in society are born.

Charles L. Losipu is a Finance and Administration Associate with over five years of experience in financial management and operations. With a Diploma in Accounting, he has a strong background in bank reconciliation, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. As a key member of the finance department, Charles is instrumental in supporting the team with procurement processes, ensuring that all purchases are cost-effective and align with organizational needs.

She spent two and a half years working at Asante Africa, first as a DEEP intern, then as a volunteer for Enterprise Challenge, and a volunteer for the Marketing and Communications team. Currently, Fatimah is the Regional Administration and Alumni Engagement Youth Mentor for the Buganda region-Kassanda, Uganda. Fatimah is passionate about her work with the youth and enjoys being a mentor.
When Fatimah has free time, she enjoys watching detective films, crime thrillers and legal courtroom dramas.
Philipina Wallace Kikaho is a passionate youth mentor, community builder, and emerging leader who has dedicated the past six years to working with and empowering young people. With a strong background in business administration, she combines strategic thinking, organization, and leadership to create meaningful impact within her community. Her ability to connect with people, communicate effectively, and inspire growth has made her a trusted mentor and a valuable team player in every space she serves.
Known for her sharp eye for detail and strong interpersonal skills, Philipina is committed to creating safe and empowering environments where young people can learn, lead, and thrive. She believes in the power of mentorship, collaboration, and community-driven change, and she continues to use her voice and experience to encourage the next generation to reach their full potential.
Beyond her professional and community work, Philipina enjoys watching movies, engaging in meaningful interpersonal conversations, and connecting with people from different backgrounds. Her warm personality, curiosity, and passion for genuine human connection make her approachable, relatable, and impactful both personally and professionally.
Opiyo holds a background in Actuarial Science, which has equipped him with strong analytical and problem-solving skills that he brings to his digital and scholarship work at Asante Africa Foundation.
He is passionate about working with children and deeply believes in the power of education to transform young lives. This passion drives his commitment to Asante Africa’s mission of empowering the next generation of African leaders.
Outside of volunteering, Opiyo enjoys reading novels, vibe coding, and watching his favorite shows. Opiyo approaches everything he does with curiosity, energy, and a desire to keep learning and growing.
