Giving Tuesday, celebrated annually on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, began as a global movement to encourage charitable giving. It was started as a response to consumer-driven holidays like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While those days focus on getting, Giving Tuesday focuses on giving…both money and time. Its purpose is simple: to promote generosity and harness the collective power of people to transform communities and address critical needs worldwide. Whether it is through donations, acts of kindness, or volunteering, the day is about making a positive impact.
In 2024, we’re asking you to give toward something that changes lives every day – education for children across Africa.
Why African Education Matters
Africa is home to over 400 million children, many of whom face barriers to accessing quality education. These barriers include poverty, gender discrimination, lack of infrastructure, and insufficient teacher training. The ripple effects of these challenges are felt for generations, leading to higher rates of unemployment, poverty, and social inequality.
Organizations like ours work to break these barriers by providing scholarships, building schools, offering mentorship programs, and training teachers. Our focus is on creating environments where young people can thrive academically, develop leadership skills, and gain the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
In the last few years, through initiatives supported by donors like you, we were able to make incredible strides. Thanks to your generosity, we helped fund leadership programs that reached hundreds of young women across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. These programs teach them not just academics, but skills in entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and community leadership.
