Asante Africa Foundation Board Director, Uganda

Georginah is a legal professional whose experience spans across various domains of regulatory compliance, innovation law, risk management, partnerships, international humanitarian law, and corporate governance. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda trained in Uganda and Switzerland. She has worked with leading INGOs in Europe operating globally with a presence in East Africa as well as two private law firms in Uganda. In 2018, she founded the Mentorship Platform. Through this initiative she organized several educational conferences , legal awareness sessions in Wakiso District, charity outreaches in prisons for female inmates and mentorship talks for university students and teenagers in rural areas of Uganda. Stemming from this she joined the Global Shaper Community, an initiative for the World Economic Forum and currently serves as the Vice Curator of the Fribourg Hub in Switzerland. Lastly , she serves on three boards of 2 women led organizations operating in Uganda and Tanzania as well as the Asante Africa Foundation- Uganda board. She strives to use the law to make a difference in society.

Team Leader – Climate Action Leadership Incubator (CALI)

Howard Mwesigwa is a lawyer by professional training with a keen inclination to Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Law & Policy. He is the Team Leader at the Climate Action Leadership Incubator, Team Leader – Energy, Environment and Sustainability Department at Kalikumutima & Co. Advocates, the Speaker – National Environment Parliament, and the  Chairperson Emeritus – European Union Youth Sounding Board – Uganda. Howard is a seasoned sustainable development advocate, leveraging the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the UN Agenda 2030 as the touchstone. His expertise and experience particularly encapsulate SDG 7 on clean and affordable energy and SDG 13 on climate action. He has undertaken energy and climate justice advocacy at national, regional and international fora. Howard is unwaveringly committed to creating an enabling eco-system in Africa to attract the requisite climate finance to support not only the climate mitigation and adaptation aspirations and commitments embedded in African Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), but also the Just Energy Transition to address the energy poverty crisis on the continent, through leveraging affordable Renewable Energy solutions. https://cali.org.ug/about-us/

PANELIST: Monicah Sianoi

Asante Africa Alumni, Entrepreneur, Founder of Naitawang’ Youth Empowerment

Monicah Sianoi is passionate about student and community empowerment, focusing on leadership, mentorship, and sustainable development. She works closely with young people to equip them with life skills, entrepreneurship knowledge, and agricultural training, ensuring they can create opportunities for themselves and their communities.

 As an Asante Africa alumna, Monicah used the skills she gained from the program to initiate Naitawang’ Youth Empowerment, a community-based organization (CBO) dedicated to empowering youth and giving back to society. Through Naitawang’, she leads mentorship programs in schools, covering topics like sexual reproductive health, personal hygiene, and career development. As part of this, she ensures that girls have access to sanitary pads, promoting menstrual health and dignity. She has also partnered with organizations like Asante Africa to support student leadership and entrepreneurship training, continuing to pay it forward.

Her Young Green Pioneers initiative helps students and youth learn agribusiness and food security, promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment. A key part of this program is tree planting in schools, encouraging environmental conservation while educating students on sustainability and climate action.

 She is also implementing Sian’s Green Hub, an initiative that will provide agricultural consultancy services while focusing on urban farming solutions like vertical gardens and multistorey gardens. This project aims to equip students and communities with innovative, space-efficient farming techniques, ensuring they can grow food even in urban and limited spaces.

YOUTH PANELIST: Pascal Ahibisibwe

Asante Africa Student, Environmental Advocate and Youth Change Maker

Pascal is a student at Nyankwanzi High School in Kyenjojo District, Uganda. Pascal has been passionate about environmental sustainability since joining the Asante Africa Foundation and KTI’s Enterprise Challenge Program. He identified plastic bottle littering as a critical issue in his community and launched a waste management and recycling project that repurposes discarded plastic into products like key holders, aquariums, flower bowls, dustbins, and water fountains.

Pascal’s project collects plastic waste from households, roadsides, and markets, sorts it, and turns it into reusable products. He collaborates with local authorities and organizations to promote policy changes and expand the project’s impact. So far, he has trained 50 youth in eco-friendly practices and recycled 300 kg of plastic per month, reducing landfill waste by 80% and increasing reusable products by 60%.

Through his initiative, Pascal has developed leadership, problem-solving, and business skills, becoming a model of youth-driven environmental change. His work highlights how young people can lead meaningful, sustainable solutions in their communities.
