From Family Farm to Digital Dairy Entrepreneur
Growing up in Irente Village, Tanga, John watched his parents work tirelessly in agriculture, livestock, and small businesses to support their family. Their determination taught him the value of hard work—but he also saw how difficult it could be to grow a rural business without access to technology, business knowledge, and new opportunities.
John’s journey began in Secondary School, where Asante Africa’s programs introduced him to entrepreneurship. For the first time, he began to see the challenges around him not simply as problems, but as opportunities to create solutions.
Later, through the Digital Employability and Entrepreneurship Program (DEEP), John gained practical skills in business planning, web development, data, cybersecurity, AI, and digital entrepreneurship. More importantly, he gained the confidence to put those skills to work.
He started with a business close to home: his family’s dairy farm.
Using what he learned through DEEP, John developed a business plan for Nisforian Dairy Farm, giving the family enterprise a clearer vision for growth. He also built a website for the farm, bringing the business online and helping potential customers learn more about what they offer.
That was a turning point for John. He realized that technology isn’t just about computers—it can transform the way rural businesses operate, connect with customers, and grow.
At his DEEP graduation, John presented his dairy business idea and was proud to see it recognized for its potential. He was given an opportunity to pursue government funding, with the requirement to form a team of young people with shared goals.
Now, John is working to bring together like-minded youth to build opportunities, create jobs, and explore new possibilities in agriculture.
His parents gave him the foundation. Asante Africa gave him the tools and confidence to build on it.
What began as a family dairy farm is becoming a vision for something bigger: a modern, technology-driven agricultural business that can create opportunities for young people in the community.
And for John, this is only the beginning.
