Digital Horizons: Muhammed’s Journey in Tech

My name is Muhammed, and I am a Form 4 student at Lushoto Secondary School. Coming from a humble family, my parents have always encouraged me to pursue my dreams despite the many challenges we face. My personal goal is to become an IT professional, a dream that has been significantly supported by the programs offered by the Asante Africa Foundation, especially in promoting digital literacy in education.

I have been fortunate to participate in several Asante Africa Foundation programs, which have profoundly impacted my education and skills. The digital technology program, in particular, has been transformative in enhancing digital literacy in education at our school. With the digital equipment provided to our school, I have been able to learn and master typing and data entry skills. This has not only improved my academic performance but also enabled me to assist my teachers by inputting various data they provide.

Inspired by the skills I have acquired through the digital literacy in education initiative,  I have a strong desire to start an ICT club to teach people how to use digital technology and empower them with essential ICT skills. However, the challenge I face is the lack of equipment, which hinders my ability to conduct effective training sessions. Without the necessary tools, I am unable to provide hands-on learning experiences, making it difficult to impart these skills to my community.

The impact of the Asante Africa Foundation has been tremendous. Many students who previously had no access to computers are now proficient in using them. This not only boosts their academic performance but also equips them with skills that are highly valued in the job market.

Looking ahead, my dream is to pursue further studies in information technology and eventually become a professional in the field. I aim to continue expanding my digital skills and establish similar clubs in other schools, ensuring that more students can benefit from the opportunities provided by the Asante Africa Foundation.
