How the Riziki Poultry Farm Started

This is a story of resilience, determination, and hard work in beating all odds to convert an idea into a project. Riziki Poultry Farm is a thriving business operated and managed by seven young entrepreneurs who are alumni of the Youth Livelihood Program (YLP). After all the sessions, they gained valuable skills in entrepreneurship and decided to Pay-it-Forward.

The idea for Riziki Poultry Farm was born after the team conducted thorough market research and identified a gap in poultry farming. Recognizing an opportunity, they developed a plan and participated in Enterprise Challenge competitions. Their hard work paid off when they won the 2022 national competition, securing a seed fund of $50,000 to kickstart their project.

Riziki Poultry Farm officially launched with 35 improved Kienyeji chicks, which are now two months old. The young entrepreneurs aim to sell eggs and chicken meat initially, focusing on establishing a solid foundation for their business. Using their profits, they plan to expand by adding more chicks and purchasing an incubator. This strategic move will enable them to hatch more chicks and grow their market base.
