The Girl Who Found Her Voice – Daisy
At Asante Africa Foundation, change often begins in quiet ways. For Daisy, a Form 3 student in high school, it began with a notebook, a timetable, and a new belief in herself.
Before joining the Youth Livelihood Program (YLP), Daisy struggled with exams. She would study, but not with a plan. Time would slip away. When results came back, they brought stress and doubt. Failing exams became her biggest hurdle. She started to question her ability. She grew afraid to speak in class. Even standing before a small group of students felt impossible.
“I didn’t even have the courage to face a group of students and talk to them…”
Then she joined the program.
Through YLP, Daisy learned how to manage her time and revise with purpose. She created a study schedule and followed it. She learned how to prepare for exams and complete them on time. The results began to shift. Her grades improved. More than that, her mindset changed. She no longer saw exams as something to fear, but as something she could face with preparation.
The biggest change, though, happened inside her.
Daisy found her voice. The girl who once avoided speaking in front of others now stands confidently among her peers. Today, she mentors fellow students. She teaches them what she has learned. She advises them on revision skills and encourages them not to give up. Her parents have noticed the difference. They say she speaks with confidence. She shares her thoughts freely. Her younger siblings now look up to her.
“I have really improved since I joined the YLP program.”
Daisy dreams of becoming a clinical officer. She wants to serve the sick and bring care to those who need it most. She knows the road ahead requires focus and hard work. With the support she has received, she feels ready.
Her message to others is simple:
Education opens doors. Work hard. Stay focused. Nothing is out of reach.
