Yusuph Empowers Youth Through Leadership and Mentorship

Nov 15, 2023

Yusuph is a bright, dedicated student from rural Tanzania. In 2021, Yusuph was excited and honored to join Asante Africa’s Youth Livelihood Program. Through the Youth Livelihood Program, Yusuph received job training and learned entrepreneurial skills. Yusuph’s enthusiasm for the program led him to take on a role as a peer mentor at the Youth Livelihood club located at his own school, Migambo Secondary School.

Yusuph states, “Since I completed the curriculum at the 2021 Youth Livelihood Program, the skills I acquired have transformed my confidence, presentation, and public speaking skills. I have improved my academic performance, and have been able to enrich the lives of more than 320 fellow students and out-of-school youths on leadership, entrepreneurship, dream mapping, and self-awareness skills.”

As an invaluable asset to the school-based club at Migambo, Yusup’s confidence and competence have been put to good use. Yusuph has been voluntarily facilitating sessions at the club meetings, and helping the teacher mentor lead meetings. Yusuph is paying forward the knowledge he has acquired about leadership and entrepreneurship to youths in other nearby primary and secondary schools.

The teacher mentor at Migambo Secondary School shared, “Yusuph has been an outstanding facilitator ever since Asante Africa Foundation established the leadership club at Migambo. He has been preparing and nurturing upcoming peer mentors who will continue to sustain the leadership club when he completes Form 4.”

Thanks to the lessons offered at the Youth Livelihood Program, Yusuph has grown into a caring and determined leader. His dedication to helping with his school’s Youth Livelihood club helps ensure that other youths will learn new skills and continue passing on this knowledge to others.
