Susan’s First Passport Stamp

From Turkana, Kenya to London, England

From the most remote school and village in Turkana, Kenya, Susan (21) overcame hurdles of poverty that were exacerbated by the pandemic. She applied her business and entrepreneurship skills learned from Asante Africa and The Prince’s Trust Enterprise Challenge to create a sustainable food business. She became her family’s main source of reliable income and provided produce to her community at a time of unprecedented challenges.

Susan never thought she could fly out of the country. Now, she is in London at Prince’s Trust Global Awards (founded by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales) sitting at the winner’s table as a result of her entrepreneurship and innovation. This is just one example of many lives being transformed at Asante Africa Foundation through the Youth Livelihoods Program.
