Rita Kahurananga is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in leadership, business development, marketing, strategic planning, and social impact investment across both the private and non-profit sectors. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Project Management and serves on four Boards: Light of Hope Tanzania, Asante Africa Foundation, Youth Dream Initiative, and Women Fund Tanzania Trust.
Rita began her career in the private sector from 1992 to 2002, working with companies like South African Airways, Kaymac Rotomoulder, and Protea Hotels. She transitioned into leadership roles in both corporate and non-profit organizations, notably serving as National Director for SoS Children’s Villages from 2010 to 2013, where she was honored with the Chief Executive Round Table (CEOrt) public-service partner of the year award.
A leadership fellow at the Africa Leadership Initiative East Africa (ALI-EAF), she is currently the CEO of Mulika Afrika Initiative (MAI) and the Sole Proprietor of Kageni Consulting. Her consulting work has honed her expertise in strategic planning, project management, leadership, organizational development, and policy analysis, benefiting a range of clients including AMSCO, SOS Children’s Villages Denmark and Tanzania, the British Council, GIZ Tanzania and Zambia, UNICEF, UN IOM, UN Women, and Habitat for Humanity.
