Allan’s Solution to the High Dropout Rates for Girls at School

Allan is an 18 year old senior 4 student at Bukuya Secondary School. He is also an alumni of Asante Africa Foundation and has participated in the Enterprise Challenge. 

Due to high dropout rate and absenteeism among girls in his class and community during their menstrual periods, he decided to offer support by training both girls and boys on making sanitary pads. According to Allan, both girls and boys should have a chance to stay in school and study. Besides that, they should share similar roles and responsibilities without segregation. Boys should make pads to support their sisters to stay in school.
