Rohi’s Bio Production Business

Mar 21, 2023

Rohi is a 17-year-old student in Isiolo County, Kenya. In 2022, Rohi joined the Enterprise Challenge program, which gave him the skills and confidence to start a bio-production business in his local community.

Rohi noticed that many parents in his community could not afford to buy expensive gas and were using alternative biogas, which was more affordable. He decided to start his own bio-production business to provide his community with a cheaper and more sustainable alternative. With Ksh. 20,000 in savings from his pocket money, Rohi was able to start his business and make a profit of 500 Ksh per day.

Through the Enterprise Challenge program, Rohi learned important skills such as communication, time management, and interpersonal skills. He particularly enjoyed the budgeting game and marketing strategies to advertise his products and receive customer feedback. Rohi also shared the knowledge he gained with his friends at school, encouraging them to join the program and learn practical business skills.

As an alumni of Asante Africa Foundation, Rohi shares that the Enterprise Challenge program brings hope to his life and encourages others to start small and trust in the process. Through his business, Rohi has not only been able to provide for his own needs but also helped his parents financially. He continues to expand his business and provide his community with a sustainable and affordable energy source.
